Southdown is located in the southwest corner of Mississauga, at the border of Oakville on Lake Ontario. It is a large employment district, with a number of commercial businesses and industries located in the area. Other areas of the GTA are easily accessible from Southdown, both eastward toward Toronto and westward toward Hamilton. 

About the Neighbourhood

Southdown is roughly bounded by the CN railway and Orr Road in the north, Southdown Road and Meadowwood Park in the east, Lake Ontario in the south, and Winston Churchill Boulevard in the west. Southdown is considered an employment district and is home to a number of businesses and commercial real estate. About the Community

As a major employment district, Southdown businesses provide a large number of jobs for Mississauga residents. For those living in the area, nearby Clarkson Community Centre offers a number of fitness and recreational activities, including a large swimming pool and skating arena. Although there are not many parks or green space in Southdown itself, there are a number of parks and walking trails in nearby Clarkson for Southdown residents to enjoy. 

Southdown is close to both the QEW and Lakeshore Rd., providing easy access to Toronto. Mississauga Transit provides public bus service along the main roads. There is also a major bus depot at Clarkson Go Station with connections to numerous Mississauga Transit bus routes and some Oakville Transit routes. Go Transit provides regular commuter bus and train service along the Lakeshore West train line at Clarkson Go Station. 

Schools in Southdown

Southdown is served by a number of public schools from the surrounding areas. Clarkson Public School and Green Glades Sr. Public School provide elementary education, while Clarkson Secondary School is Southdown’s high school.
